To Those Who Say Choi Si Won Can Do No Wrong…

…you’re wrong.

According to Popseoul! This is a picture of Super Junior’s Si Won modeling for a Japanese casual jeans brand called Evisu. There is nothing “right” about this picture. The air brushed pecs and the pink lipstick as Popseoul! pointed out are absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary. Si Won is an attractive guy but this picture does him no justice and the art director of this photo shoot should be shot.

Spotlight: Ryan Higa

I wrote about one “youtube celebrity”, Kokujin Tensai, when I first started this blog. And now I bring you another, Ryan Higa A.K.A. Nigahiga.

What does he do? And why does he have almost 80,000 subscribers? And why do each of his videos have thousands of comments?
Well, I think it’s because he’s rather funny.

Japanese-American Ryan Higa lives in Hawai’i and sometime last year he began posting comedy videos. It started out as him and his right hand man Sean Fujiyoshi lipsynching to The Spice Girls and Rihanna, it escalated to Rants and music videos to Celine Dion and it capped off at spoofs and “How To” vids. Basically they specialize in silly, silly humor.

GIVE IT A REST!

 

Once again, the E.L.F.’s were out in the freezing below zero weather to protest the addition of Henry or anyone to Super Junior. 700 obsessed girls sat outside of SM Entertainment with their silly signs and a lack of sanity. My friend summed up why they did it rather well. “To them adding someone else to Super Junior is like adding another book to the Bible.” I get it now. There would be so many protests about that. But let’s put things into perspective here. Idol group vs. A book that is the basis of a religion that millions of people believe in. Hmm. Well, I can’t say that I sympathize with the E.L.F.’s who, by the way, want an apology from SM for causing mental damage. Are you friggin’ kidding me?

Quantum of Solace

What does that mean? I have no idea. All I know is that this is the name of the 22nd James Bond movie.

Am I a James Bond geek for being really excited for this film?

Dae Sung: “I can just go home and hug your toes for you.”

I love him for having such a great sense of humor. When Big Bang was on a radio show they each called a girl people and they had this fake semi-awkward conversation between boyfriend and girlfriend. Somehow…Dae Sung ends up calling a guy…

Jang Jin Hee: Video Ho?

Jang Jin Hee stands at 176 cm and has been modeling for 9 years now. During those years, she already walked the runways for the Seoul Collection and SFAA Collection and appeared in fashion magazines such as Elle and Vogue. She was also in M’s (Lee Minwoo) “M Style” and Yang Dong Geun’s “Let’s Go to Hong Kong” music videos.

Jang Jin Hee made a lot of fangirls jealous and they were scrambling to find out who was grinding all over cars in Big Bang’s How Gee video.

Well, in these here parts she’d just be a video ho. But is there more to Jang Jin Hee? My guess is that she will try to break into the acting industry. Model –> Video Ho Actress –> Drama Actress –> Film Actress…(Maybe) If she doesn’t move past the music videos, frankly, she will remain a video ho. And there is no other way to classify a scantily dressed girl posing awkwardly in little pants next to an obscenely expensive car. What will become of Jang Jin Hee?

Really its JYPs song since he did everything BUT sing it. I find Joo’s voice really cute and nice and sweet sounding but this song is a powerful ballad and she should have the voice to match.

I’m not trashing Joo because I think she has a lot of talent but I think her debut may have been a tad too soon. Or her debut song was a bit too ambitious.

Heath Ledger Dead at 28

Sitting in my NYU lecture I was shocked to hear someone say, “Heath Ledger’s dead”. As class ended everyone was saying, “Wait… are you serious?” and “No… Really?” I was one of those people that were seriously skeptical or just in denial. But unfortunately, Ledger, who was in the middle of filming a movie has passed away.

Happy Birthday Kang Dong Won!

I fell in love with him after seeing the heartbreaking movie Maundy Thursday or the more direct translation Our Happy Time. He plays a man on death row for a crime he sort of kind of didn’t commit (it’s complicated) and Lee Na Young plays the woman that visits him in jail every Thursday. Good movie I’d reccomend it.

Most recently he’s also been in Voice of a Murderer and M. I started but couldn’t finish Voice of a Murderer and haven’t yet see the art house movie M, but I do know that Kang Dong Won (who used to be a model) is a really good actor and I will be really sad when he goes off to the military.

Anyway, Kang Dong Won is turning 27 years old so I expect him to be doing his military service in the next couple of years. Hope he does a drama before then!

Reminisce with a Blur

Kwon Doo Hyon creates photographs that are purposefully blurry in his photo exhibit called Practical Illusion. The photographs in it range from dark and eerie to light and prasmatic.  Kwon explains his art by saying: “The misty images give us the room to reflect on bygone times and past experiences, thus we can undergo emotional changes. I wanted to make this room for the audience to recall pleasant memories and sink deep in thought.”
