Spotlight: Ryan Higa

I wrote about one “youtube celebrity”, Kokujin Tensai, when I first started this blog. And now I bring you another, Ryan Higa A.K.A. Nigahiga.

What does he do? And why does he have almost 80,000 subscribers? And why do each of his videos have thousands of comments?
Well, I think it’s because he’s rather funny.

Japanese-American Ryan Higa lives in Hawai’i and sometime last year he began posting comedy videos. It started out as him and his right hand man Sean Fujiyoshi lipsynching to The Spice Girls and Rihanna, it escalated to Rants and music videos to Celine Dion and it capped off at spoofs and “How To” vids. Basically they specialize in silly, silly humor.

I found some of his videos funny and I’ll admit you have to forget that you are a intelligent human being to watch most of them. Some of his videos are offensive without meaning to be, and some of them will leave a giant ellipsis (…) over your head. And others, like I said, will have you dying with laughter. I would say watch a Higa video. But they are completely and undeniably foolish. Don’t say I didn’t warm you.
