Epik High and Wonder Girls Special Stage

Posted in Music, Seoul with tags , on June 30, 2008 by illdielaughing

Epik High and Wonder Girls’ special stage on Inkigayo yesterday night.

So boring it’s almost sad. Wonder Girls fail covering Jewelry’s Baby, One More Time. Then Mithra and Tablo come out while the Wonder Girls dance in the background. Then One is performed, Sun Ye takes over Ji Sun’s part, which was a dreadful mistake. Now, I love Sun Ye and I really like her voice, but it’s almost as if that part in One was made for Ji Sun’s light and airy and HIGH vocals. Not many can cover Ji Sun and make it work. The only exciting thing about this performance was the random men doing backflips.

Overall, the Special Stage was very unspecial. Boo.

Website Promoting “The Dark Knight”

Posted in Movies, NYC on June 29, 2008 by illdielaughing

I love viral sites like this.

It’s a fake website promoting Harvey Dent, one of the characters from the new batman movie, The Dark Knight. In the film, and in the Batman comic world, Harvey Dent is Gotham’s district attorney, he later becomes two-face after acid gets thrown on his face.

The site is ibelieveinharveydent.com. Check it out. But remember Gotham and Harvey Dent do not exist.

What’s Up, Fox?

Posted in Seoul, TV, ^_^ with tags , on June 29, 2008 by illdielaughing

I’m not entirely sure why this drama is called What’s Up, Fox?, but I think they made a reference to it in one of the episodes.

What’s Up, Fox? is the story of Go Byung Hee, a 33 year-old that lives with her mom and works at an adult magazine, and her love with Park Chul Soo, the younger brother of her best friend and friend of the family. Chul Soo is nine years younger than Byung Hee so that of course causes a big rift in their relationship. But their age difference is nothing compared to the one between Byung Hee’s younger sister, Jun Hee, and the object of her affection. Jun Hee is a model and she meets the extremely rich, extremely irritable fashion importer. He’s 17 years older than her. At first she hated him and she hated that he wanted to be her sponsor. But as we know love can quickly spring from hate. Byung Hee on the other hand has always loved Chul Soo, but as a brother. After Chul Soo’s parents died, Byung Hee’s mother was like a mother to him and his older sister (Byung Hee’s best friend), Seung Hye. Anyway, we know how these dramas go, things come in between them, including themselves but the ride is joyful and hilarious. And the leads are so great to watch. Go Byung Hee being played by the adorable Go Hyun Jung, famous since her appearance in one of the highest rated dramas of all time, Sandglass. And Park Chul Soo is played by the equally adorable Chun Jung Myung, who I adore.

Watch this! It’s not perfect but it’s worth it.

“S-Diary” Cast on Come To Play

Posted in Seoul, TV with tags , , on June 29, 2008 by illdielaughing

There is very little subbed video of Gong Yoo so this is a nice treat.

Gong Yoo, Kim Sun Ah and Kim Soo Roh on Yoo Jae Suk’s Come To Play. This is a rather old episode, it aired in October of 2004 to promote the movie S-Diary. The movie is basically about Kim Sun Ah going back and reading her diaries to figure out what went wrong about her the 3 loves in her life. Funny movie but nothing to call home about. But this episode is funny, though a bit short.

Thanks to yonnieyonnie for the subs!

Jun Jin on Infinity Challenge

Infinity Challenge’s resident crackhead, Noh Hong Chul was especially cracktastic in this episode but I wouldn’t have him any other way.

The Chairman, equipped with creepy stuffed cat straddling his arm, tells the Infinity Challenge guys that he has bonuses ready for one of them. Their are six suitcases, one of them has the $3,000 bonus in it. The first person to go to some bathhouse, retrieve the suitcase and bring it somewhere else will win the money (if theirs is the suitcase with the money in it).
When they get to some station the have to say “I love you, how can your love change?” to someone in sunglasses so that they can get the password for the locked briefcases.

Thus hilarity ensues. Read more »

Daesung in Musical “Cats”

Posted in Seoul, ^_^ with tags , on June 25, 2008 by illdielaughing

You know how I thought SHINee’s Key looked like he was about to join a Flashdance revival? Well, you don’t need to worry about that… but you might want to worry about Dae Sung in Korea’s revival of Cats.

Cats is an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical about Cats (I always thought they were from outerspace but I’m not too sure). It sounds ridiculous but since it’s first run in London’s West End in 1981, Cats has become a mega hit on New York’s Broadway and all over the world. DaeSung will be playing the cat  Rum Tum Tugger.  ”He will do as he do and there’s no doing anything about it” according to the play. He is also the flirtatious and, often times, sexual cat in the play. (Haha, what a part for Dae Sung).

I’m having a hard time imagining Dae Sung like this:

What about you? Is that mane doing it for you?

SHINee’s Jong Hyun Crying on MC Mong Radio

Posted in Radio, Seoul with tags , on June 24, 2008 by illdielaughing

On the June 14th airing of MC Mong Radio, SHINee was on and they talked about and thanked their parents.

Ohn Yu went first and while he was thanking his ‘rents Jong Hyun started crying. As Jong Hyun was crying I started laughing. Not because I think his emotion is funny but just because the music in the background was so campy, MC Mong is narrating it like a sports announcer and the sounds Jong Hyun made were so…. funny. And he’s sniffling through out all of the other member’s thank you’s. I’m sorry to all those that were teary eyed while listening to this I just couldn’t stop from laughing.

I also thought it was funny how Taemin thanked his parents for “just bring [him] into this world” I couldn’t help but think, no wonder that’s all he’ll thank them for, it happened so recently…

Minho promises his parents that from now on he’ll be a handsome son. Wow, that’s really deep.

But my favorite bit of dialogue in this radio show is:

MC Mong: There’s pizza outside so please don’t cry. Please be strong, Jong Hyun!
Jong Hyun: Ah… I’m sorry.
MC Mong: Now that you’ve cried you feel better, right?
Jong Hyun: Yea…

TOP and Lee Byung Hun; Hunter and the Hunted in IRIS

Posted in Seoul, TV, ^_^ with tags , , on June 24, 2008 by illdielaughing

I think when most Americans see the word “iris” in all capitals (IRIS) we can’ help but think of the bloody IRS and then we get cold sweats.

Anyway, Big Bang’s resident actor and rapper, TOP, is starring along side Lee Byung Hun in the high-budget, high profile drama, IRIS. The drama, set to air early next year, involves the secret organization, IRIS, that sends TOP’s character, an assassin, to kill Lee Byung Hun’s. IRIS is based in the states so there will be lots of overseas filming in America but also in Russia, China and Japan.

I’ve never seen TOP act, minus the NG’s from I am Sam, so I’m curious to see how he’ll do in what looks to be a high-octane drama. If he was chosen to work along side Lee Byung Hun and directors Kang Jae Gyu, of war movie Taeguki and Lee Hyung Min, of sob-drama I’m Sorry, I Love You, then he must have been rather impressive.

Not much else is known about the drama as they won’t starting shooting until the end of this year, much of their overseas filming being done in October.

DMC Performs at the Re-opening of Hard Rock in Seoul

Posted in Music, Seoul with tags , on June 22, 2008 by illdielaughing

Darryl “DMC” McDaniels performed at the grand reopening of the Hard Rock cafe in Itaewon, Seoul.

Above is Dynamic Duo and Run DMC at the re-opening.

Says DMC of current hip-hop: “Real hip-hop is in a class by itself. … I don’t listen to the radio or watch music channels. I only listen to the artists and everything on the walls of the Hard Rock Cafe. Classic does not mean old. It means it is better than anything that would come after it.”

So I guess he’s never listened to Dynamic Duo?

SHINee in Vogue Girl

Posted in Magazine, Seoul with tags on June 22, 2008 by illdielaughing

It’s an upgrade from the LSD trip that was the Elle Girl Shoot. (Though this wasn’t a photo spread like the one in Elle Girl. The Vogue Girl spread is more of a piece about SHINee with some pictures in there).
