Haru Haru part II and 2pm

Posted in Music, Rant, Seoul with tags , , on August 24, 2008 by illdielaughing

Eh.

I don’t think the second one is such a hot idea. Having a group called 2am and then coming out with a group  called 2pm is rather…the only word that fits, honestly, is LAME.

First of all it has seven members. Then, for goodness sake, what are they wearing? (I honestly can’t stand all the boybands that are dressing like crap to “make a statement”. Like G-Dragon for example, I love him, I want him to take me shopping, but AFTER he comes back to his senses and stops dressing like a St. Marks reject piece of turd.) Read more »

SBS Fails at Life

Posted in Rant, WTF?, World with tags on July 31, 2008 by illdielaughing

SBS insists on embarassing themselves.

First they make Youtube take down all videos of the shows that air on their network. (They have every right to do this, but unless they sub their dramas and variety shows, it shouldn’t matter if English speakers are watching subbed SBS shows on Youtube. We wouldn’t be watching their shows when they broadcast anyway). Then they leak secret video of the Olympic Opening Ceremony rehearsal with the knowledge that they are not allowed capture video.

The organizers of the rehearsals didn’t do double checks on whether or not people had cameras but they warned people against taking picture or video and they were stopping people from taking pictures in the front row. So SBS knew they had footage that was illegal to show. It’s one thing if someone just leaked it online, but it’s a whole other thing if they use it on their news program.

Personally, I don’t really care about the opening ceremony and I don’t think that seeing the rehearsals is going to ruin the opening ceremony for people that do care. But I do feel that SBS was indecent and they’ve shown their complete lack of regard for professionalism and the integrity of journalism.

SM Entertainment and SBS’s “Untold Stories” [FAKE?]

Posted in Rant, Seoul, TV with tags , , , , on July 24, 2008 by illdielaughing

EDIT: THIS MAY OR MAY NOT BE FAKE, IF I FIND OUT FOR SURE THAT IT’S FAKE I’LL TAKE IT DOWN. SO DO NOT QUOTE ME AS A SOURCE FOR THIS NEWS.

BoA, Dong Bang Shin Ki, Kangta and Super Junior are featured in SM and SBS’s Untold Stories, a four chapter, twenty episode show.

To me this is kind of unnecessary and gluttonous. It’s like SM Entertainment decided to do an A&E autobiography on it’s artists but none of them, with exception of Kangta, has hit thirty. This is ploy for publicity and ratings and the sheer scale of these “untold stories” makes it seem rather self-important and vainglorious. If it was one group, or one artist it wouldn’t be as bad.

It’s also rather hoaky and campy, like a long Lifetime movie. The DBSK Chapters are:

Episode 1 - Yun Ho: The Country Boy
Episode 2 - Xiah Junsu: The Mountain’s Peak
Episode 3 - Micky Yoochun: The American Dream
Episode 4 - Choi Kang Chang Min: The Priceless Stairs
Episode 5 - Jae Joong: The Street Lights

For twenty of a record companies artists to simultaneously barrage us with stories that are supposed to make us feel sad, or happy or whatever, I find nearly obnoxious. But I know that for the most part these artists are going to speak honestly about where they came from and how they got to where they are so it bothers me even more to think that their memories and their pains or joys are going to exploited for profit.

G-Dragon’s Tattoo

Posted in Rant, Seoul with tags , , on July 10, 2008 by illdielaughing

I only write this post because of all the ridiculous responses to it over at Popseoul!

I personally think, besides the awkward placement, that the tattoo is nice and meaningful if understood. To people wondering if he knows what it means, I don’t think G-dragon is enough of an idiot to get a tattoo without having any idea as to it’s worth. People in the states get Chinese character tattoos all the time, they aren’t raised reading Chinese characters, but they are educated as to what it means. G-Dragon getting a tattoo with English letters does not mean that he doesn’t know what it means.

The Eagles wrote a song about James Dean, You were too fast to live, too young to die, are the words describing Dean’s lifestyle, daring and way of death. ”Too fast to live” at it’s simplest is merely the reflection of James Dean living, he was ruthless but he was iconic, and seen as “dangerous” because he had purpose. As a musician it makes sense that G-Dragon would get a tattoo that are lyrics of a song. (There was also the poem by Mark Lamarr that alluded to James Dean called Too Fast to Live, Too Young to Work but that was written in 1985 nine years after the release of The Eagles’ song).

Honestly I think any young adult with any kind of ambition can relate to those words. We’re all too fast, too ambitious, too reaching to contain all in this life but were also too young not to live (and for those dead, they were too young to die.) James Dean pretty much defined the youth culture in the mid-fifties and he is still defining youth culture now (I mean youth as in 18 and up or I guess the mature high schooler. Read: young adult :) ) So to me this tattoo makes perfect sense and it suits G-Dragon as much as his “Moderato” and “Vita Dolce” tattoos do.

5 Things In the News Today

Posted in Music, NYC, Rant, Seoul, TV, Tokyo, WTF? with tags , , , , , on June 12, 2008 by illdielaughing

NOTHING seems to be sparking my interest enough for a full post.

Lee Jun Ki is gonna kick R. Kelly’s ass.

1. Iljimae’s ratings has exceeded 20%. This drama is uber-popular, I would watch it but, generally, I am incapable of taking Lee Jun Ki seriously (it was the first minute of Time Between Dog and Wolf that did me in.) Yes, I am aware that I’m being completely unfair but we’ll see, maybe I’ll watch it and fall in love(???)

2. Cassiopeia still thinks that it’s a good idea to waste money on the Dong Bang boys’ birthdays. Micky refused the gift of a thousand dollars worth of camera equipment. Cass, here’s some advice: feed your self, your family, maybe an African baby or two and BUY THEIR ALBUMs. DBSK doesn’t want digital what-not’s from you, they want album sales. [Their was also a birthday party (is it just me or is it just weird to celebrate the birthday of someone you don't know?)]

3. Doctors at the University of Tokyo Hospital in Tokyo’s Bunkyo-ku performed surgery on the wrong eye of a 70 year old patient. -_-; Good going guys. They performed surgery on the correct eye the following day. This is somewhat good news because the old man had a glaucoma in both his eyes. This is good because now the guy can see through both eyes, this is bad because what if he didn’t have glaucoma in the the other eye, and this is silly because shouldn’t the old guy have said, “hey, that’s the wrong eye”?

4. Remember when R. Kelly peed on that 13 year-old girl and video taped it? Well, that was, say, 10 years ago and the case is now going through trial. R. Kelly’s people are alleging that the man is not R. Kelly and that the girl is not who they say it is. The prosecutor is saying that the man is R. Kelly and that R. Kelly is a perv (in the video R. Kelly [if it is him] makes the girl walk around, pee on the floor and then he proceeds to have sex with her, though I’m not sure if the sex comes before or after the peeing upon her incident). Well, with songs like “Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number” and “Bump N’ Grind” I’m wondering how the jury will decide.

5. The Dow and NASDAQ are up… but don’t be fooled America, we are in a recession :).

6. (Another one because because number 5 wasn’t fun!) People (what a vague word) seem to forget that their favorite artists aren’t the only singers in the world and that, YES other artists might release a single on the same day. Not it wasn’t on purpose. Relax… don’t get a headache worrying over conspiracy theories.

7. Sorry, that wasn’t news either, just griping… Hmm… How about this. DBSK is releasing their T Concert DVD! (More Idol paraphernalia that I’ll be too cheap to buy(exclamation point optional).

8. Okay this is the last one, I only added it because I forgot about the best news this week. So You Think You Can Dance is back! And so is America’s Best Dance Crew, (they have a crew on the show called fannypak) I am SO excited.

(9. I finished Fruit’s Basket. The last book was kind of unnecessary, the plot points could have fit into book 22 but it was nice to draw out a series that I didn’t want to stop reading.)

Okay, I’m done with my “5″ News points. You can choose which five were the most exhilarating.

Crazy Fans Should Start Demanding Pay

Posted in Rant, Seoul with tags , on May 14, 2008 by illdielaughing

I think this crosses a serious line. I know people say, “If I saw DBSK in the street I would take pictures!!!!” That’s more or less a given (from an appropriate distance), but there is no reason for this serious stalker photo. I mean, this is illegal guys. It doesn’t matter who your idol is, when they signed their contract they didn’t give ALL of their life to the public nor should there be young girls on their property at night. These girls are not even getting payed!! So I say, if you want to make yourself seem less crazy for hiding in someone’s bushes this late at night, come to America, you’ll have a job.

I honestly think that this is a good example of fans asking too much of their idols. DBSK works pretty much 24/7 all year round, they release single after single, they’re on variety shows, they fly back and forth between Korea and Japan, they do their tours of Asia, they do sooo much, too much. They look skinny and malnourished because honestly they’re overworked. I don’t want to sound preachy but I think a vast majority of people would agree that the above picture shouldn’t even exist.

Hana Yori Dango I and II

I somehow finished the last season of Hana Yori Dango yesterday. I had started it last summer and then stopped in the middle of the sixth or seventh episode. Yesterday I started watching again from the 8th episode and finished the season. Then I thought that I should watch season two since everyone just seems to love the drama but… I did a My Girl with this one. I watched the first episode (Well I watched the first half of the first episode and then I skimmed the last half) and then the second half of the last episode(okay I skimmed that too). I really couldn’t condone spending that many hours on a drama that was already driving me crazy from episode one. I’m know I’m in the vast majority by not liking this drama.

It’s just that I can’t bring myself to like Domyouji’s character. Domyouji is an obnoxious brat and Makino has really bad taste in guys because there is nothing good about Domyouji’s character outside of the fact that he likes her. And then there’s Rui, who Makino keeps calling “Hanazawa Rui”, can she be anymore formal? Rui and Makino are much better suited for each other in my opinion. But I know I’m in the minority about that as well. I don’t know exactly what happened in Season two and I’m not to concerned about finding out (well, I might read a synopsis).

Ughh, Fandom…kinda sucks…

Watching Guerilla Date with DBSk was borderline painful for me. Here’s why:
1. It was funny that Junsu was saying that he enjoyed walking outside again. I was like “huh?” you’re surrounded by tons of fans a good tenth of which are clinically insane and you enjoy this? Right…

2. I was surprised that someone knew the exact date of DBSK’s debut. I guess Korea puts more emphasis on debuts but even when I was younger and loved N’synch I had no idea what year they debuted (which once again could simply be due to my general laziness about these things).

3. The girl that “doesn’t like Jae Joong, but Loves him” kicked a girl in the head trying to get to DBSK and she cried. That’s relatively normal I assume, but she was a bit cuckoo. I loved Micky’s face during the entire thing he seemed so uncomfortable.

4. Yunho had to start dancing again. “Dance time for the friends”. Sit the fuck down, Yunho, just tap your feet quietly. Don’t you sometimes feel like Yunho is that friend you havethat is always making a spectacle of himself? But I do love how Yunho always hugs his fans, it’s really sweet because you know that makes their day.

5. Somehow Jaejoong reveals the women in his masturbation fantasies. Sorry, I’m crossing a line, but let’s be honest here. The guy asks him how he deals with loneliness that a guy feels (what kind of answer is he expecting?) and Jae Joong says he watched foreign movies because those actresses become main characters in his imagination. Oh Jaejoong, Jaejoong, Jaejoong…

6. Lastly, it was slightly painful because it led me to writing everything below(/after the jump).

“Don’t You EVER Insult Hyori!” (This is a useless post)

Posted in Crazy People, Rant with tags , on March 7, 2008 by illdielaughing

SHUT UP.

leeHyori TOPGIRL

I swear I’ve gotten so many ridiculous comments about Lee Hyori, Kim Ah Joong and whoever else I might have insulted about being untalented.  But the Hyori lovers are definitely the most ridiculous. They go from threatening peoples lives to saying “Fuck you asshole!!!” to giving long essays about why “Hyori is great!”.

200poundsbeautyra8.jpg

At least when people defend Kim Ah Joong they don’t make ridiculous threats on peoples live or use a ridiculous amount of exclamation points. I do point out Kim Ah Joong’s plastic surgery a lot but that isn’t why I think she’s a bad actress. I just think she’s a bad actress. And I think that her extensive plastic surgery is really distracting but the two are in no way related. There are actresses that I like that have gotten plastic surgery like Uhm Jung Hwa and Han Chae Young, I also have friends that can’t stand either of them, but I don’t ever threaten there lives or use 5 exclamations points at the end of my sentences when I talk to them.

I say this all to say that I am really curious about all these crazy people that comment on my blog. Not the ones that sanely disagree with me but the ones with the excessive punctuation and homicidal disposition.
